„Ja, es gibt noch freie Termine… leider… bei der ersten Gaslight Anthem Tour hatte ich jede Menge Off Days, später wollen es dann alle machen.“ So Gunnar Christiansen, Inhaber des Labels Gunner Records aus Bremen, über die lückenhaft gebuchte Tour von wolves&wolves&wolves&wolves (Wx4), zum 2014 erschienenen Debut ‘Subtle Serpents‘. Wie sich die Zeiten ändern können, sehen wir heute am Plan der Tour, zum Release des zweiten Albums ‘The Cross And The Switchblade‘. Wen wundert es auch, haben die Postpunks aus North Carolina mit ‘Subtle Serpents‘ schon ein solides Album hinterlassen. Umso schöner ist es, dass nach der E.P. ‘Scars‘ aus dem Jahr 2015, in diesem Jahr das zweite Album erscheint. ‘The Cross And The Switchblade‘ knüpft dort an wo das Erstlingswerk der Wölfe aufgehört hat. Melodiöse Gitarrenriffs mit Mut zum wütenden Ausbruch an den richtigen Stellen, Chorgesänge und die reibende Stimme von Sänger Brian mit viel Sinn für Gefühl, die schon auf ‘Subtle Serpents‘ für Gänsehaut sorgte. Während dort noch übliche Themen wie dem Verlieren und Gewinnen, dem Verlust von Freundschaft und Liebe und dem Alltag allgemein verarbeitet wurden, setzt sich Sänger Brian nun mit viel persönlicheren Gedanken auseinander. So funktioniert der Titelsong „The Cross And The Switchblade“ beispielsweise als Ventil dafür, dass Brian auf Grund von Zweifeln mit seinem Glauben bricht, wie er in einem Interview sagte. Wx4 deuteten 2014 bereits an, dass wir uns diesen Namen merken müssen. Mit ‘The Cross And The Switchblade‘ manifestieren die Jungs ihren Namen und betten uns in Punkrock mit Ohrwurmgarantie, der zwar nicht neu erfunden wurde, aber unheimlich viel Spaß macht. Das gute Stück ist ab 16.09. über Gunner Records und bei allen Streamingdiensten erhältlich!
